“Miraculous Migration”

September 7, 2010

During my sermon this past Sunday, I made reference to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch–that mass of floating plastic bits that’s more than twice the size of Texas and sits in the middle of the Pacific Ocean somewhere between Hawaii and Asia. That reference inspired Karen Amundrud to email me a link to the video below. It’s a pretty funny parody of Disney-ish nature films–complete with voice-over by Jeremy Irons (really!)–that tracks the “life-cycle” of a plastic bag–which starts at a super-market and ends “happily” with it communing with other petroleum products out in the Pacific Ocean.
